What to Do in Saint-Lambert?

Hello everyone! We are Pauline Chen and Félix Villeneuve, active real estate brokers in Saint-Lambert, a gem on the South Shore of Montreal. Today, we invite you to explore Saint-Lambert, a charming town rich in activities. Located near Montreal, Saint-Lambert is a vibrant community, bordering cities like Brossard, Longueuil, and Montreal.

Saint-Lambert, with its serene atmosphere and picturesque setting, is a true haven for those looking to combine residential tranquility with easy access to urban activities. This town, known for its elegance and historical charm, is a preferred choice for families, professionals, and retirees seeking a peaceful yet connected life.

What are the main attractions in Saint-Lambert?

Discover below a range of activities that Saint-Lambert has to offer:

The Bike Path

The Maritime Way Park is a vast park through which the bike path runs along the seaway. The cycling network connects the cities from Longueuil to Brossard. At the Saint-Lambert locks, you can cross the river by bike. This involves crossing the footbridge that gives access to Parc Jean-Drapeau, from April 6 to November 17, 2019. However, access is closed during special events like the Montreal Grand Prix. The cycling link is temporarily not accessible when a ship passes through the Saint-Lambert locks.

At the Saint-Lambert locks, you can cross the locks to reach St. Helen's Island, and even up to the Old Port of Montreal!

Maritime Way Park

The park includes a playground for children, a skateboard park, baseball and soccer fields, and a multi-purpose track (inline skating). Two commemorative plaques located at the entrance of the park are dedicated to André Bourbeau and Pierre Laporte.

Who was André Bourbeau? André Bourbeau (1936-2018) was a councilor and mayor of the city of Saint-Lambert.

Who was Pierre Laporte? Pierre Laporte was a Quebec politician, Minister of Immigration and Labor for the provincial Liberal party in 1970. He was kidnapped by the Quebec Liberation Front (FLQ) in October 1970. Unfortunately, he was found dead a week later in the trunk of a car. This triggered the October Crisis of 1970 in Quebec. I was 13 years old at the time.

Entrance to the park and parking are free.

Saint-Lambert Golf Club

The St-Lambert Golf Club opened its doors in 1931. Bill Boothman was the professional until 1939. The first Pavilion was on L’Espérance Street, and the canteen was operated by Fred Wright and his family. During the Second World War, the Pavilion was moved near the Bourlingrin club. It was managed by dealers, including our very dear Bessy Reeves, whose excellent work was appreciated by all.

Doc Rellis was the first president, and Marcel Lalonde ran the first Club shop installed in a small corner of the old Pavilion and called 'the shack'.

The new Pavilion was built in 1969. The land and building belong to the city of St-Lambert, from whom we rent. The entire golf course is now on this side of the railway. In 1931, the first hole's tee was on L’Espérance Street, and the ninth hole's green was at the current location of the arena, and a large part of the course overlooked Oak Street.

Saint-Lambert Festivals

A major cultural festival in Saint-Lambert, Montérégie, where gastronomy, music, and street art are celebrated. Known for its large sidewalk sale, this festival is a must-attend urban event of the summer!
